Alexandria, MN (June 11th, 2011) – West Fargo, ND driver Cody Skytland turned in another sterling performance taking yet another win Saturday night at Viking Speedway. Jeff Crouse turned in a memorable run picking up the win in the WISSOTA Super Stock finale while Ricky Weiss scored his second win in as many weeks in the WISSOTA Late Model A-main. Jason Hoffman (WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds) and Tim Jodsaas (WISSOTA Street Stocks) each scored feature wins in their respective divisions Saturday night at the big ½ mile. Drivers and fans alike once again witnessed some tremendous Amsoil Dirt Track Series Racing at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Alexandria, MN.

Although Shawn Olson led early on it was Jason Hoffman who would take the lead on lap three. Brian Haben did his best to run down Hoffman during the 15-lap affair but it was not enough to deny Jason the victory. Haben was forced to settle for a hard fought second place finish ahead of ninth starter Travis Saurer. Row fourth starter Dustin Bitzan moved up four positions to finish fourth ahead of Chris Mensen. Josh Muzik, Nick Bruder, 18th starter Phil Braun, William Lund, and Olson all turned in top 10 runs as well during the WISSOTA Midwest Modified finale.

Alexandria’s own Tim Jodsaas led flag to flag taking the win in the WISSOTA Street Stock finale with a myriad of battles taking place behind him. Chris Winter would prove to be Jodsaas’ chief rival with Winter coming home a close second. A three car battle for the third spot ensued during the second half of the race with Jordan Tollakson outlasting Mark Blom and Brett Miller. In the end it was Jodsaas scoring his first win of the season ahead of Winter, Tollakson, Blom, and Miller.

Jeff Kluver took the lead on the opening lap of the WISSOTA Super Stock A-main. Kluver showed the way early on before fifth starter Cory Tammen took the lead on lap two. Back in traffic, row four starter Jeff Crouse and Larry Lund moved forward rapidly with Tammen still showing the way out front. Thirteenth starter Jeff Flaten began to flex a little muscle in the ladder stages of the event as he moved into third when the final yellow flag waved for second place running Tammen with five laps remaining. Tammen lost his right front wheel which bunched up the field behind Crouse with five to go. Flaten was able to move by Lund for the second spot but was unable to sneaky by Crouse who took home the win. Flaten turned in a sterling performance moving from 13th to finish second with Lund third, Kluver fourth, and Mike Peterson fifth.

WISSOTA Modified rookie Tyler Sjoman looked as if he might spring the upset leading the first 13 laps of the A-main with the action fast and furious behind him. Sjoman, however, would be overtaken by Skytland with a power move on the bottom of the speedway exiting turn two. Back in traffic, Scot Danzeisen and Josh Thoennes did their best to move to the front. Danzeisen started the event in the 14th spot and finished sixth while Thoennes started 18th and finished eighth. With three laps remaining, the final yellow of the evening waved which bunched up the field behind Skytland. Fifth place running Kyle Koehntop took advantage on the restart moving up into the third spot momentarily before finishing a great run in fourth. On the final trip around, Sjoman drove his #2 Taylor Chassis in on the top side as hard as he could. Skytland, however, was smooth on the bottom and took the win. Sjoman turned a lot of heads with a very impressive second place finish ahead of Kyle Wieberdink, Koehntop, and WISSOTA Modified rookie Brett Hoium. Danzeisen, Travis Saurer, Thoennes, Dave Schroeder, and Bob Sagen all turned in top ten performances as well for the WISSOTA Modifieds, who boasted 21 entries.

Headingley, MB traveler Ricky Weiss moved from his seventh starting position out front taking his second win in as many weeks with a dominating performance in the WISSOTA Late Model A-main. Fellow row fourth starter Shaun Peterson moved up six positions to finish second ahead of the best battle of the speedway. Early leader Seth Brede and Duluth, MN traveler Joey Ogston battled side by side for the final six laps of the event with Brede holding the position. Ogston and Scott Atkinson rounded out the top five for the WISSOTA Late Models.

Viking Speedway lost a great member of their family this past when 23-year old employee/fan Matt Chan passed away in Glenwood, MN. Chan was a friend to many at the speedway and will be missed by all who knew him. Thoughts and Prayers go out to the Chan family during this tough time, Matt will never be forgotten.
